“If Louis was right, and you only get one great love, New York may just be mine. And I can’t have nobody talking shit about my boyfriend.” Carrie Bradshaw

I’ve been in a serious relationship with Milan for 13 years now. We met in 2001, when I was 21 and oh-so-fresh and ingenuous, and I can say this is a marriage that works!
For as long as I can remember, people have been saying: “Oh Milan? It’s just fashion, not a real beauty, nothing compared to Florence or Rome. A boring city where people work too much and that has no real night life.” Well, I can’t have nobody talking s***t about my own boyfriend, can I?

This is Arco della Pace, the Peace Arch completed in 1838, the scenery of the triumphant entrance of Napoleon III in 1859. History right next to my own home. It’s a lovely place with lots of bars and lounges that comes alive especially in spring and summer, with people sitting outside, sipping cocktails and enjoying small bites to eat. Also beautiful for brunches. How can anyone be oblivious to such beauty is beyond me!

You see, Milan is not your typical beauty. It is true that compared to Florence, Venice or Rome lacks in drama, lacks in stunning monuments, but once the city gets under your skin – it’s done, you are in love and in it for life. But what you need is someone to show you the hidden beauty, the right places, the famous hidden gardens behind beautiful buildings. We are not only fashion 🙂

Now, once I’ve confessed about my love for my boyfriend city , let me introduce you all to the dress I love more than any other: Dolce & Gabbana’s last year “Pupi siciliani” (Sicilian puppets). I got it for the wedding of a dear friend of mine (a big hug to you, Dina) and I loved every single detail on it: the drama, the colours, the fact that it did not need any other accessories. The silk organza gave it volume and kept me fresh on a bright spring day, and the way it photographed was just amazing. Considering that the bust area needed alteration (remember what I told you about my size issues?), this was a true labour of love from my SA and the Milan boutique seamstresses. They ordered the original silk fabric and painstakingly inserted two pannels on each side that perfectly matched the design. So it was no wonder that I was very proud of it; I emailed a picture of the full outfit at the wedding to the SA, who was thrilled at the result. Little did I know that the store manager Mario (who has quitted since to pursue his own dream of making wine in South Italy – how chic) printed the picture out and put it in his office:  I was given this detail upon return. It feels good when people working in a store become your friends, not only employees.

For the wedding I have paired it with a pair of gorgeous red silk Louboutin sandals, and that little pale blue Chanel you see here – but it works just as well with these Saint Laurent gold pumps. (does anyone else miss the Yves? I just keep calling them YSL no matter what)

And if a dress is that good that can pull a full smile out of a woman who’s wearing braces, well, it’s a keeper. As well as my long-term boyfriend Milan. 🙂

Ancora complimenti, bellissime foto e bellissimo blog!
    Un bacio

Moira, grazie, sei davvero gentilissima 🙂
Il merito delle foto va al fotografo, mentre la magnificenza di quell’abito è merito supremo dei due stilisti 🙂
      Baci 😉
