Forget butterflies. I feel the whole zoo when I’m with you.

I was such a clichΓ© when I was a little girl. I always wanted to wear my mom’s heels in the house, and of course I got my first set of kitten heels around the age of 8. They were cute little mules with the Smurfs on them, and I thought there was nothing more beautiful than that, along with painted toenails – another ritual I shared with my mother.
So, there was no real possibility of that little fashionista forgetting her first love. I am a true shoeholic today, quite a joke between my friends and often called Carrie. The latter is a joy, as I am a never-dying SATC fan and never bored with the re-runs of the episodes. Seriously, I could watch them for hours and still laugh at the same jokes with enthusiasm. Any other SATC fans among my readers? Should we go into counseling? πŸ˜€

Anyway, I am always on the hunt for extravagant shoes. And I do wear them like a regular person wears trainers: every day, anywhere. I wish I could be that woman who wears flats and feels elegant and confident anyway: I just feel goofy and way too girly.

So one fine day, Sophia Webster came along and brought “Chiara”. My 8 years old self was seeing, literally, butterflies!

Forgive me but I could not resist shooting these in the middle of some flowers. πŸ˜€ The neon straps, the butterflies, the holographic profiles – I was in love despite the ankle strap, which I’d normally hate. At first I was terrified of the butterflies: would they break? Would I trip? Will they hurt?

None of the above happened. They are surprisingly comfortable (within reason, as always with heels) and I managed not to fall, somehow. Although I’ll admit it was a pretty fun scene for the bylookers during the shooting: what’s that lady doing in the middle of the grass with 10 cm heels?!

So, how do you style such egocentric, scene-stealing sandals?

There was no doubt for me. These jewels needed a blank canvas, literally. So I took out my favorite dress by Dolce &Gabbana, in beautiful creamy white with laser cutouts, so ladylike and proper I could go anywhere with it and accessorize it up or down. And then my 8 years old self shouted for joy, and forced my 33 y.o. self to get the Chanel hot pink jumbo out, along with the Shourouk “Apolonia Rainbow” necklace. Is that enough colours for you?

While I was at it, I threw some curls too, and Barbie was ready to go out πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

See that in the background? It’s the Sforza Castle, named by one of the historical milanese families. (For those feeling adventurous, the Milan history is quite fascinating. The families, the wars, the alliances… romantic and terrifying at the same moment.)
It is surrounded by a huge parkΒ  and it is so close to home that I feel blessed and privileged every single day, getting to look at that as soon as I walk out of the door.
And no, don’t even ask how I managed to walk for this picture. πŸ˜€

Butterflies 3

Hello, ladies. Mind if I join for a pic? πŸ˜€

Happy Wednesday to all the shoeholics out there. May the butterflies be with you!
