Lady Violante, I am going to Barcelona in early May. What type of clothing should I wear, skirts or pants? I cannot wear high heels, (plantar fasciitis) so what type of sandals or flats should I wear? Also I want to take a trip to Montserrat; do I need to wear jeans and hiking shoes? Do you have any other tips and suggestions on where to go or what to buy? Thank you for your help. JEM

Hello darling, I just saw this! When it comes to skirts/pants debate, just wear whatever you feel best in. If you’re in skirts, wear nice flats, if it’s really hot as Barcelona can be, sandals are great with everything. I don’t know anything about hiking gear but jeans are always a must in your luggage! Try googling the Monserrat on Tripadvisor so you see other people’s experiences. If it’s your first time there, do the biggest tourist spots (easily discovered by Lonely Planet or Google): my fav spot is the ex-Olympic complex on the Mont Juic, and the marina.
Have a lot of fun, Barcelona is beautiful! kisses

    Dear Sandra
I recently bought my first piece of clothing from D&G.
It’s cotton and I’m not sure about how to clean it. Do you ever wash yours? What should I tell the dry cleaners?
    Thank you so much!
PS: Your sense of style is stunning. Love the pictures from Peru.

hello darling! congratulations on your purchase, wear it in great health! D&G cottons are to be dry-cleaned, if nothing, in order not to disturb the pattern of the print. I wouldn’t advise washing it in water. There’s a label inside the dress that gives precise indications to the dry cleaners, so let them follow it! (thank you for such lovely words on the Peru pics, I enjoyed making them a lot!)

    Dear Sandra

I thought of you last night. I came home after a long week at work and decided to unwind while waiting for my husband. I was watching a Netflix documentary named “Embrace”

“It follows body image activist Taryn Brumfitt’s crusade as she explores the global issue of body loathing, inspiring us to change the way we feel about ourselves and think about our bodies.” IMDb

If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend. It made me laugh, it made me cry. It made me feel good and beautiful.
Why I thought of you? Because you, a total sweet stranger, changed how I see fashion to the point of changing the way I dress and, more importantly, how I perceive my own femininity.

You see , I always thought of myself as a “thick” woman. I don’t have much of a waist and I do have broad shoulders and big arms. On top of that I lost almost all my hair due to an autoimmune disease. So I NEVER wore certain things a because it made me feel boxy, huge. I never wore a skirt. I never wore my femininity outwardly. I was so ashamed.

But seeing you in all your glorious curves, owning it with a big smile, happy and content, fulfilled and comfortable and IN A SKIRT, changed everything for me.

My first was a Zara floral skirt, which I love. Then came another one, and another … until I was able to buy my one (and probably the only one) D&G, which I wore on my wedding day. Yes, I got married last summer to a brilliant man, an architect and Dean of a local university. We picked up the skirt while on vacation in Paris last May. And he thought I was beautiful in it.

So , dear stranger that I hold near in my heart,
May God bless you so you can keep on spreading a positive body image, amazing style and awesome smarts (I am a sucker for brains and inner beauty). Thank you for leading the way. Thank you for showing me how to rock a skirt. My self confidence is my new found love. You are helping other women way more than you can possibly imagine.

    Hugs my dear
    Alexandra
